Prabowo is Ready to Reduce Hand in Overcoming Conflict in Papua

Minister of Defense (Defense) Prabowo Subianto welcomed the request of former BIN Chief AM Hendropriyono for all levels of government to be involved in completing the OPM (Free Papua Organization).

Reported earlier, Hendropriyono considered that the OPM was no longer an armed criminal group, but had been categorized as a rebel. Therefore, synergy is needed from all levels of government to solve it.

"It takes the role of the Minister of Defense, the Coordinating Minister for Politics and Security, and all of them to participate in solving this problem. Because the OPM has long been engaged at the level of politics and international diplomacy," Hendropriyono told reporters a few days ago.

Answering that, the Staff of Public Communication and Inter-Institutional Relations Department, Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak, said Prabowo was ready to intervene to win the hearts of Papuans.

"Since he was in office, one of Pak Prabowo's concerns has been the problem of Papua as a whole. He has continually coordinated and ensured that Papua is peaceful and secure on the one hand," Dahnil said.
