PLN is optimistic that electricity in 1,123 villages in Papua be until the end of 2020

PT PLN (Persero) of the Papua and West Papua Regional Unit (UIWP2B) is optimistic that 1,123 villages in Papua and West Papua will be electrified until the end of 2020. PLN UIWP2B General Manager Ari Dartomo said on Monday that the ministry had electrified 218 villages in Papua and West Papua throughout 2019.
.
"Until now the total number of villages in the two provinces has reached 5,813 villages, with the source of electricity coming from PLN, energy-saving solar lamps (LTSHE) and non-PLN and now leaving 1,123 villages that have not been electrified," he said.
.
According to Ari, PLN put forward the use of new and renewable energy (EBT) with a total of 151 contracts for the construction of solar power plants (PLTS) that were signed last year with locations that are spreading.
.
"In electrifying villages in Papua and West Papua and increasing the electrification ratio in Papua last year, PLN is working with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources to help illuminate approximately 3,000 villages in Papua and West Papua using LTSHE," he said.
.
He explained that in accordance with the direction of the central government, the construction of power plants using renewable energy in Papua is not only done in villages, but also in cities where most of the power plants are still using fuel.
.
"PLN continues to look for natural potentials in Tanah Papua to build large-scale EBT plants, so that in the future consumption of fuel oil in existing plants can be reduced," he said again.
.
He added that PLN also had another duty to ensure the reliability of the electrical system in welcoming PON XX in Papua this year.
