TNI-Polri Continue to Pursue KKB Which Also Persecutes Citizens

Papua Police Chief Inspector General (Pol) Paulus Waterpauw said, we are still continuing to pursue the armed criminal group (KKB) led by Lekagak Telenggen. The pursuit was carried out following armed clashes between the TNI-Polri apparatus and the KKB in Sugapa District, Intan Jaya Regency, Papua, on Sunday (1/26).

The incident resulted in one KKB member led by Lekagak Telenggen, killed and one other was captured. Polri-TNI is also still trying to evacuate workers at the scene because the KKB group is suspected of also attacking and persecuting civilians.

"They are also persecuting civil society. There are those who work at the company (persecuted), we are currently evacuating, later I will give a report after the evacuation," Paulus said.

Paulus did not explain in detail the persecution committed by the KKB to the civil society. He also did not mention the number of victims who fell. He added, there were obstacles in the effort to pursue the Telenggen Lekagak group. However, the Indonesian National Police will continue to pursue them so that no more casualties fall due to this separatist group.
