Mimika Egg Production, Papua, Surplus |
Yosefin Sampleino, Head of the Livestock and Animal Health Service Office of Mimika Regency, said that local chicken egg production has experienced a surplus of three tons per day.
.
This was stated by Yosefin in his report during the inauguration of the Office of Animal Husbandry and Animal Health (Disnak-Keswan) on Jalan Poros SP 2 on Tuesday (4/2).
.
Yosefin explained that laying hens currently produce 11 tons a day. The need in Timika is 8 tons per day, thereby producing three tons of surplus eggs per day. Therefore, farmers began sending to several districts in Papua.
.
He said laying hens, most of the people of the sons and daughters of the region under the guidance of the Jayanti Mandiri Foundation PTFI, YPMAK and independent breeders. The total number is more than 100 farmer groups.
.
In addition to laying hens, he said, Disnak also has a breeder partner that produces local pigs, broilers and free-range chickens, if compared to previous years it must be imported from outside because there is no production in Timika.
.
"Now there is a community of livestock to be a people's business, among others, business of pigs, laying hens and broilers and native chickens," he said.
.
Mimika Regency Government has provided 11 freezers with a capacity of three tons to help the needs of post-harvest farmers. So that starting mid-February 2020, broiler breeders began to be developed again by breeders.
.
Then in March 2020 the breeders will start producing broilers. "Now the need for broilers is 30-50 tons per day. Or equal to 10 percent of foreign income quota around 400 tons per month, "he said.
.
With a large supply of broilers from outside, the development of broiler chickens in Timika has become a potential business that needs to be developed as a form of community economic empowerment to create a prosperous society in accordance with the regent's vision.
.
For super chicken farms, the last two years began to be developed into a people's business since the presence of Binmas Noken from Mimika Regional Police as a supplier of DOC. Yosefin felt that this was very helpful for farmers, easier and cheaper so that the business began to grow in Mimika Regency.
.
While Eltinus Omaleng, the Mimika Regent when receiving chicken eggs handed over by Drh Budi, the Chairperson of the Mimika Poultry Farmers Association (HIPUKAMI) hopes to continue producing eggs not only to meet the needs of the Mimika community but also to send to several neighboring districts.
