The Department of Education, Library and Archives of Papua encourages all vocational high schools (SMKs) in Papua to have their own workshops so that the knowledge learned becomes useful.
.
"There are only nine new workshops so it is difficult to search for practical tools. Should not. We must intervene, "said the Head of the Papua Regional Education, Library and Archives Office, Christian Sohilait, at Al Ihsan Yapis Junior High School in Jayapura, Thursday (02/13/2020).
.
According to Christian, by intervening in vocational high schools having their own workshops, students can make their own money for school needs and daily needs.
.
"If possible, all the workshops, vocational schools must take over. If so, tell me, tell the mayor so we can help. I continue to encourage SMKs to be able to produce something, "said Christian.
.
The Head of the Papua Education Quality Assurance Institute (LPMP), Adrian Howay, said SMKs must be integrated in the world of work so that when they graduate school not only knowledge is obtained but also skills.
.
"LPMP Papua as the Ministry of Education and Culture liaison with local governments can jointly assist in improving education in the regions, especially the issue of Human Resources," Howay said.
.
According to Howay, it is necessary to harmonize the curriculum, the establishment of trade committees, joint competency tests, productive teacher training and experts who are seconded in SMK.
.
"Through this concrete step, it is expected that SMK graduates have insight and competitive attitudes such as work ethics, achievement motivation and mastery of the material, so that they are superior and reliable in maintaining the workforce required by the work industry," explained Howay.
