Papuan public figure, Thaha Al Hamid, said the implementation of PON in Papua was a leap in civilization and new history for the people of Papua.

"All parties must give thanks to God and thank the government, because for the first time in the history of the PON carried out in Papua. This is not just a routine, but a new history for Papua," he said, Tuesday (11/02).

Implementation of PON in Papua will bring in many athletes from all over Indonesia. For this reason, the community must be a good host and help the implementation of the PON run well and smoothly.

"Customs of Papua do not want Papuans to mess up in front of guests. If guests come, we must respect and introduce that culture in Papua is mutual respect," he explained.

PON in Papua will be held at the end of October 2020. There are 4 locations provided in PON 2020, namely in the Regencies of Merauke, Timika, Jayapura and the City of Jayapura.
