Personnel from the Indonesia-PNG Border Security Assignment Unit from the 509 / Kostrad Raider Infantry Battalion carry out a 15-kilometer walking mobile health patrol to treat ailing local community.
The humanitarian operation was carried out to the community in Oksemar Village, Okbibab District, Bintang Bintang District, Friday (21/2), led by the Okbibab Post Commander, Second Lieutenant Infantry Wisnu Adityara, along with five members and he was a health officer.
Head of Information for Kodam XVII / Cenderawasih, Colonel CPL Eko Daryanto, said in a written statement on Friday that Oksemar Village, which was visited far from the administrative capital of Gunung Bintang Regency.
When the residents of Oksemar Village are sick and want to seek treatment, he said, the community must walk towards Abmisibil Village, which is about one and a half kilometers across the river.
"This health service patrol is a tangible form of the concern of the army of the Army towards the people of Kampung Oksemar, in addition to the habit of the people who still do not want to be hospitalized if sick, because of the considerable distance and there is no land transportation," he said.
Meanwhile, the Head of Oksemar Village, Rikardus Uropmabin, expressed his appreciation for the health services provided by the Indonesian Army troops from the Indonesia-PNG Border Security Assignment Unit from the Raider 509 / Kostrad Infantry Battalion to the Oksemar village community.
"As the head of the village, I am very grateful for the care of the men of the Army who have been willing to come all the way to provide health services to the people in this village, so this is a real service from the Indonesian Army to help the people in remote villages," he said.
