Help Begins to Come to Tembagapura Refugees

The Mimika Regency Social Service, Papua Province began to receive assistance in the form of nine basic necessities (basic necessities), used clothing and a number of other assistance for residents from villages in the Tembagapura District that were temporarily evacuated to the City of Timika.

This assistance itself was provided by the Regional Apparatus Organization (OPD) in the scope of the Mimika Regency Government in accordance with the instructions of the Mimika Regent Eltinus Omaleng. Even so, until Tuesday (9/3) only 25 OPDs had submitted aid.

Besides OPD, there are also community organizations that also provide assistance such as the Amungme Kamoro Organization (AMKO) and the National Amil Zakat Agency (Baznas). Assistance provided such as various food ingredients, ranging from rice, instant noodles, milk, coffee, sugar and others.

There are a number of DPOs who have brought a considerable amount of aid, others have brought a very small amount. Such as the Office of Education to bring food aid to clothing suitable for use by truck.

Head of the People's Welfare Division, Mimika Regency Social Service, Johannis Pattiasina, who is also the coordinator of the aid, said that all aid delivered will be collected until March 11 in accordance with the Eltinus Regent's letter.

After that, his party will coordinate with the DPO and regional leaders, and then distributed to residents who are being evacuated in the meantime.

For the distribution itself, Johannis said, it would be given to community leaders, religious leaders and village heads who would coordinate the surrender.

"The division will later be community leaders, religious leaders with coordinating village heads, because they know the residents better with the locations of the residents," he said.

He continued, his party would summon the leaders and also the village head after all the aid had been collected. He could not be sure when to deliver the aid.

"After all of this division is collected, we will call them, so that the distribution is evenly distributed," he said.

It is monitored, there are still residents who come to the evacuation site temporarily even though they already have a place to live both in private and family homes.
