The procurement of new Papua PON equipment is quite difficult to do due to the spread of the corona virus

The former Asian Games 2018 match equipment will again be used in the implementation of the 2020 National Sports Week (PON). The Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (PMK) Muhadjir Effendy said, the use of the match equipment so that PON funding could be more efficient.

"The equipment of the former Asian Games match is to be immediately checked and used again, the checking will be carried out by the Ministry of Youth and Sports and PBPON," Muhadjir said after the PON preparation meeting at the PMK Coordinating Office on Thursday (05/03/2020).

Muhadjir said the licensing and utilization of the 2018 Asian Games ex equipment would be carried out by the Ministry of Finance, especially Customs. The optimal utilization of the former Asian Games 2018 match equipment, he said, was because the procurement of new equipment was quite difficult because of the outbreak of the corona virus or Covid-19.

"We know that the procurement of new equipment is rather difficult, especially those imported, due to the Covid-19 disaster," he said.

The match equipment for 26 sports (sports) that will be competed at PON 2020 must be provided by the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) no later than next July.

All of the equipment, said Muhadjir, must have arrived at their respective venues. Meanwhile, related to 11 other sports which are the responsibility of PBPON, equipment auctions will begin this week for 10 days.

The XX PON will be held in Papua from October 20 to November 2. The implementation of PON itself will be held in Jayapura City, Jayapura Regency, Mimika Regency, and Merauke Regency.
