TNI Is Ready to Help PLN Secure Electricity Installation in Maluku and Papua

TNI soldiers are ready to help and provide security guarantees to the National Electricity Company (PLN) when installing electricity in 433 villages in the Maluku, Papua and West Papua regions.

That was confirmed by the Commander of the TNI Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto, when he received the Deputy President Director of PT. PLN (Persero) Darmawan Prasodjo at the TNI Headquarters Cilangkap, East Jakarta, Thursday (03/12/2020). "I welcome the plan of the National Electricity Company (PLN) to install rural lighting or electricity networks," he said.

Meanwhile, Deputy President Director of PT. PLN (Persero) Darmawan Prasodjo explained that PLN plans to conduct electrification by installing electric tubes along with electric energy charging stations and some renewable energy generation (EBT) technology, such as Solar Power Plants (PLTS) and Pikohydro. "The installation of rural electricity requires security from the TNI so that it can go according to plan," he said.

According to him, the TNI and PLN have established cooperation by signing a memorandum of understanding in 2019 about securing and maintaining the reliability of the electricity system in the country. This cooperation is one of PLN's steps in maintaining the company's operational activities in terms of generation, transmission and distribution in order to avoid technical and social problems that could result in the risk of providing electricity or even blackout.
