Merza said that the capital assistance was distributed to two villages built by Baznas Papua. "There are two villages that we have developed through the Papua Baznas Economic Program. In Dobonsolo Village, Sentani, [Jayapura Regency], there were 40 heads of families [beneficiaries]. In Ambon Village, Abepantai, [Jayapura City], there are 70 heads of families [beneficiaries], "Merza said.

According to him, the distribution of capital assistance in the village of Dobonsolo runs for two years. While capital assistance in Ambon village has been going on for three years. Up to 2020 the value of capital assistance has reached Rp. 300 million, and has succeeded in increasing the welfare of the recipients of capital assistance.

"Beneficiaries' welfare has increased, from a family income that was previously below the Regional Minimum Wage or UMR to a minimum equivalent to UMR or even above the UMR. "The improvement in welfare has been experienced by several families receiving capital assistance, both in Dobonsolo Village and Ambon Village," Merza said.

The recipients of the Papua Baznas Economic Program assistance have been self-employed and sell a variety of processed food products made from spinach, ranging from chips to ice cream. The products of Baznas Papua beneficiaries have even been sold in a number of supermarkets in Jayapura.

"All products have received legality from the Ministry of Trade. Now we are taking care of halal certification, so that the community does not doubt the products produced by Baznas Papua beneficiaries, "explained Merza.

Head of the Papua Regional Revenue Agency, MB Setiyo, said that the Baznas Papua Economic Program was not only given to Muslims. Capital assistance was also given to Christians, Hindus and Buddhists.

"All of that is for the welfare of the people in accordance with the vision of the governor of Papua, namely that Papua rises, is independent, and is prosperous with justice. This social activity needs the support of all parties, because there are still many people who need to get help, "said Setiyo.
