The Governor of West Papua Supports the Expansion of the New Province

West Papua Governor Dominggus Mandacan wants the central government to immediately grant the formation of the new autonomous region (DOB) of Southwest Papua Province which the people of the Sorong Raya region have fought for for about 12 years.

He said that the West Papua Governor's Decree was to complete or fulfill and update the documents needed in the framework of the formation of the New Autonomous Region of the Province of Southwest Papua.

This is because the main requirement for the expansion of the new autonomous region of Southwest Papua Province must be approved by the Governor of West Papua Province because the areas that will become the Southwest Papua new autonomous region are currently in the territory of West Papua Province.

Lambert Jitmau explained that in the Governor's decree, the Chairman of the Acceleration Team was the Mayor of Sorong, the Deputy Chairman was the Regent of South Sorong, the Team Secretary was the Regent of Tambrauw, the Deputy Secretary was the Regent of Raja Ampat, the Treasurer was the Regent of Maybrat and the Deputy Treasurer was the Regent of Sorong.

The team formed by the governor is a legitimate team to fight for the Southwest Papua DOB according to the expectations of the people of the Sorong Raya region because the expansion of the West Papua New Guinea is to shorten service distances and encourage development for the welfare of the community.

It was said that the team had worked optimally and had conducted various hearings with the Ministry of Home Affairs, Kemenkopolhukam, and Commission II of the DPR RI to encourage the expansion of the West Papua DOB.

According to him, Governor Dominggus Mandacan has also extended the Acceleration Team Decree for the next two years or until the establishment of the Southwest Papua Province has been declared official by the Central Government.
