Thousands of Volunteers Will Be Involved in the Inauguration of the PON Papua Venue

More than a thousand volunteers or volunteers will be involved in the inauguration of a number of the XX Papua National Sports Week (PON) venues scheduled for October 20, 2020.

Later, the volunteers will be tasked with helping the committee in managing the people who will attend the inauguration ceremony.

The chairman of the Papua National Youth Committee (KNPI), Alberto Gonzales Wanimbo, said the volunteer staff needed was 1500 people.

He conveyed this after conducting a coordination meeting with the PON Big Committee (PB) in Jayapura, Papua.

He said the volunteers who would be involved in the inauguration of the PON venue were those from the Jayapura City and Regency clusters.

"This inauguration activity takes place in Sentani, Jayapura Regency, so we use volunteers in the Jayapura Cluster," he said.

The volunteer task, said Alberto, would be to help the committee to organize people who enter the arena or stadium and even get to their seats.

This is done as an effort to implement health protocols in order to maintain the safety of all parties because it is still in a Covid-19 pandemic situation.

"So that later we will help the committee so that the inauguration activities and thanksgiving services and trial matches run smoothly," said Alberto Gonzales Wanimbo.

Meanwhile, the Daily Chairperson of PB PON Papua, Yunus Wonda, hopes for support from volunteers to help secure the inauguration of the PON venue.

"Success in the implementation is inseparable from security, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic, the volunteers can help the committee manage the people who come to the stadium," said Yunus Wonda.
