There have been many changes in Papua now

The action against special autonomy (otsus) in Papua was carried out by a small number of mass groups. Meanwhile, many figures, elites and people in the area still want the policy to continue after 2021.

"Those who reject this special autonomy are not all Papuans, only small groups who are the target of protection from the political elite," said the head of the Mandala Trikora Papua, Albert Ali Kabiay.

Meanwhile, the traditional leader of Keerom Regency, Herman Yoku, said that this special autonomy policy was a product of law that could not be abolished. Even if there are only revisions and evaluations.

"Nothing was removed. We still really need the funds for the welfare of the people. We admit there are still shortages, but there have also been changes," he said.

Meanwhile, the religious leader, Pastor Herman Yoku, emphasized that residents of the Tabi and Seireri Indigenous areas had conducted an evaluation of the Papua Special Autonomy. They agreed to continue the special autonomy policy.

"We are still part of the Republic of Indonesia. Do not be provoked by a misleading movement. That makes us unable to develop," he said.

Meanwhile, the head of Sakanto Village in Keerom Regency, Yohanes Isomo, admitted that he had been presented with a petition against the special autonomy system.

However, because he considers that a policy has brought significant changes in Papua, he also rejects this.

"Now we see development in Papua like this, the border is also very good. Then why was it rejected, it should be accepted gratefully," he said.
