LGMP Visits MRP to Support Sustainability of Papua Special Autonomy
The Red and White Movement Institute (LGMP) supports the continuation of Otsus Papua in the courtyard of the Papua People's Assembly (MRP) Office. LGMP asked the Special Autonomy Law to be continued for the betterment of Papua.
Simoen Ohee, the coordinator of the LGMP, assessed that the implementation of Otsus has had a good impact on Papua.
"We ask that the evaluation of Otsus and Special Autonomy volume II continue, it cannot be thwarted. Because Otsus was passed in the DPR and MPR RI, "he explained, Monday, November 9, 2020.
Simoen said the group that rejects Otsus was deliberately formed to protect the Papuan political elite who are suspected of having eaten the Special Autonomy fund for their own interests.
"These elements are afraid that the evaluation of Otsus will be carried out, so they seek support to refuse Otsus to continue. Meanwhile, other communities want the development of Papua to continue and be evenly distributed, not only partly, ”he said.
"This special autonomy exists because of the struggles of our predecessors. We are the ones who want Otsus to continue, not reject it. Then there is a group that we suspect is being used by the elite to reject Otsus with the issue of an independent Papua. This is used to cover up their mistakes, "he explained.
Simoen also emphasized that if his party did not agree, the MRP General Hearing Meeting (RDPU) would be held in Jayapura Regency. His party asked for the RDPU to be carried out outside the city and district of Jayapura, in a neutral location and without intervention.
During the action, the members of the MRP Religious Working Group, Steady Nef Penggu, submitted their aspirations. The action then continued at the Papua DPR Building in Jayapura. The masses also unfurled banners supporting Otsus accompanied by Sentani drumming flutes.
However, the local security forces dispersed the LGMP crowd because they did not have permission from the police.
