800 Athletes, Coaches, and Parent Sports Staff Receive First Batch Vaccine

There is good news for the world of sports in Indonesia in the midst of the Covid-19 epidemic that has not yet ended. The government decided on 800 athletes and outstanding coaches as well as officials and support staff, including the group receiving the Covid-19 vaccine for the first batch.

"Vaccination is to make them more confident so that there is no fear or doubt," as conveyed the Minister of Youth and Sports Zainudin Amali at the commencement ceremony of the vaccination program for outstanding athletes and coaches in Jakarta.

From the initial plan, there were 822 people, the total number of Covid-19 vaccine recipients under the coordination of the Ministry of Youth and Sports was 783 people. The reduction in the number of vaccine recipients was due to various reasons such as 2 people being elderly, 29 people because of hypertension, Covid-19 survivors, and uncontrolled diabetes.

The 808 recipients of the Covid-19 vaccine are those from 40 sports. While those who are members of the billiard parent sport consist of 10 people (5 athletes, 4 official and 1 support staff). Two of them failed to be vaccinated because they did not pass the hypertension screening test.

PB POBSI Secretary General Robby Suarly expressed his gratitude to the government, especially the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Ministry of Health.

"First and foremost, of course we are very grateful for the attention of President Joko Widodo who cares about the world of sports in Indonesia so that we have priority to be vaccinated against Covid19. Hopefully Indonesian sports activities can run better, especially we have a national event, namely PON 2021 in Papua. "

Robby also appreciated the health workers and the team who had carried out the vaccination program well, smoothly and professionally.

"Hopefully their charity will always be blessed by the Almighty God," he said.

Meanwhile the billiard athletes who also got the opportunity to be vaccinated against the first wave were happy that the vaccination program could be implemented earlier this year.

For athletes, this vaccination is an important step for sports people to be more focused on achieving achievements.

"Moreover, we have a national event in Papua later. For the Princess, we are also participating in a tournament." he continued.

Five outstanding athletes from billiards who were vaccinated in the first batch were Angeline Ticoalu, Annita Kanjaya, Fathrah Masum for female athletes, and 2 male athletes namely Irsal Nasution and Rudy Hasan.
