The vaccine made by Sinovac is safe
A total of 16 public officials and figures in Papua Province received the COVID-19 vaccine on Friday (15/1/2021). The vaccination takes place at the Jayapura Regional General Hospital in Jayapura City.
The heat of Jayapura City's weather on Friday morning did not dampen the intention of public officials and figures to become “volunteers” who received Sinovac's COVID-19 vaccine injection. The Commander of the XVII / Cenderawasih Military Region Command, Maj. Gen. Ignatius Yogo Triyono, became the first person to step forward to be vaccinated on Friday.
After registering at the registration desk, he switched tables, then underwent a preliminary examination of the COVID-19 vaccination. After being declared healthy and being able to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, Yogo moved the table again, receiving education about the COVID-19 vaccination from the medical staff there. After that, then he received an injection of the COVID-19 vaccine.
After being injected with the COVID-19 vaccine, he admitted he was fine. "I am doing fine. The effect is the same as when the smallpox vaccine is used up, like a sore arm, ”said Yogo.
He asked the public not to believe the hoax news circulating on social media. Yogo hopes that people in Papua will take part in the COVID-19 vaccination program. "This is a government program to break the chain of spreading COVID-19. All people must take part, "he asked.
Officials and other figures take turns registering at the registration desk, then undergoing a preliminary examination. The medics who became the vaccinators looked relaxed and calm examining the volunteers. Likewise the vaccinators who maintain the COVID-19 vaccination education table, which provide various information that recipients of the vaccine must know.
Alberth Maniani (27), a representative of the younger generation who is a volunteer for the COVID-19 vaccine recipient, said that he wanted to prove to the whole Papuan community that the vaccine made by Sinovac was safe. According to him, his experience of being injected with the COVID-19 vaccine was similar to other vaccinations.
"It feels like [being injected with the COVID-19 vaccine is the same] like [feeling] being injected [other drugs or vaccines]. That's why I invite young people to accept vaccines and not believe in hoax news, "said Maniani, who is also a graduate of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Cenderawasih.
The head of the Papua Health Office, Robby Kayame, hopes that the COVID-19 vaccination program in Bumi Cenderawasih can reach 75 percent of people in Papua. "We have to work together to make it happen. We hope that the vaccination program will continue until 2022, "he said.
Acting Regional Secretary for Papua Province, Doren Wakerkwa, stated that the government will continue to strive to reduce the spread of COVID-19. "We need to welcome the COVID-19 vaccine [production] Sinovac," he said.
Wakerkwa stated that the first stage of COVID-19 vaccination is to vaccinate medical personnel. He hopes that medical personnel will immediately visit the designated COVID-19 vaccination service centers. "We [want to] protect you, [health workers]. Don't waste this opportunity, in order to keep Papua healthy and meaningful, "he said.
