A budget of IDR 50.9 billion to build a special house in Papua




The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) built 147 special housing units for people in Papua Province.
 
"The total budget is IDR 50.9 billion," said Director General of Housing of the Ministry of PUPR, Khalawi Abdul Hamid in a written statement, Monday, February 8, 2021.
 
Based on data held by the Papua Region I Housing Provision Agency, the construction sites are spread across four districts.

Among others, there are 68 units of Jayawijaya Regency, 25 units of Tolikara Regency, 30 units of Nabire Regency, and 24 units of Yapen Islands Regency.
 
"Special housing assistance is part of the One Million Houses Program built to meet the needs of houses in border areas and remote islands," he explained.
 
According to Khalawi, the PUPR Ministry continues to strive to improve the quality of livable houses that are evenly distributed throughout Indonesia from Sabang to Merauke.
 
To facilitate the coordination process with local governments and communities in the area, the Directorate General of Housing for PUPR has also established the Papua Region I Housing Provision Center.
 
"The aim is to accelerate the implementation and supervision of development in the field and to directly observe the housing process for the special housing program in the border area between Indonesia and Papua New Guinea," he said.
 
Meanwhile, the Head of the Papua Region I Housing Provision Implementation Center, Faisal Soedarno, explained that the 2021 budget year, the PUPR Ministry allocated 147 units of special housing assistance in Papua Province.
 
This was carried out as the government's effort to provide livable housing for the community as well as as an equitable development, especially in the housing sector.
