Acceleration of Vaccination Has an Impact on the Economy

The government continues to strive so that the Covid-19 vaccination process runs quickly and precisely so that it can provide protection to the community and economic recovery can take place. Vaccination is also a game changer in the domestic economy.

"We will continue to accelerate the availability of vaccines which will be procured in the first and second quarters," said Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati.

Based on data from the Ministry of Health, up to stage one vaccination has been carried out on 1,120,963 people and stage two vaccinations have been carried out on 537,147. The total vaccination targets were 181,154,465.

Sri Mulyani said that vaccinations are given free of charge in order to achieve herd immunity in 2021. According to him, Indonesia is one of the few countries that have started vaccinating in 2021. Vaccination is given in the first phase, namely health workers followed by public service officers, elderly people (elderly), vulnerable communities and other communities.

"Access to vaccines is intended to provide assurance so that herd immunity can occur. The vaccine policy set by the President is to provide free vaccines, with the aim that no Indonesian society does not want to be vaccinated because they don't have money, "said Sri Mulyani.

The government has budgeted Rp 58 trillion for the procurement of vaccines in 2021. Of this amount, specifically for the procurement of vaccines amounting to Rp. 50.2 trillion and the rest is for distribution, information systems and implementation to the regions to the puskesmas. Regarding independent vaccination by the private sector, his party is still waiting for a decision from the Ministry of Health. "However, we still provide it according to the required herd immunity, namely Rp. 181 million times two doses with an information system, logistics and health personnel who will carry out the vaccination," he said.

Previously, Minister of National Development Planning / Head of Bappenas Suharso Monoarfa said that the condition of the Covid-19 pandemic could only be controlled in September 2021. With a note that the vaccination process was running smoothly so that the number of Covid-19 sufferers could be reduced. "It is hoped that from September the outbreak will be under control and at that time the economy will start to run faster. We must maintain this optimism, even though this does not mean that the herd immunity has been achieved, ”said Suharso.
