Aeromodeling Sports Continue to Boost Preparations for PON Papua

The aeromodeling sports branch continues to maximize their preparation for the XX National Sports Week (PON) in Papua.

Four mainstay athletes Achmad Teguh Tamami, Wisnu Dwi Atmojo, Rafif Cipta Naufal, and Julita Dwi Shanty undergo routine training three times a week to improve their abilities to be more optimal.

One thing that is maximized in training that is still undergoing the general preparation stage is about the physical abilities of athletes. The physical abilities of athletes are being shaped so that they can perform optimally in competitions.

Banten aeromodeling coach Ahmad Iswadi said that excellent physical ability is needed so that athletes can perform constantly throughout the competition. Where aeromodeling athletes need stamina to be able to release their model aircraft in seven rounds of competition in each round.

"We provide a physical training menu to increase athletes' endurance with gradual and periodic physical training. The four of them we give weight training and run with a duration of 20 minutes without stopping, we are sure that repetition of the physical exercise will increase stamina in general, "he said.

Thus Iswadi hopes, when the general preparation stage program is completed in March, the stamina of Banten athletes will be much more ready.

Apart from running a program that has been prepared to strengthen physical abilities, aeromodeling athletes cannot be separated from the results of the physical tests that were held by KONI Banten last December. From the records that the tests achieved by aeromodeling athletes have not met the standards set by KONI Banten, especially in terms of endurance recorded in the VO2 max results.

He revealed, of the four athletes, only two athletes met the VO2 max standard of KONI Banten for aeromodeling sports, namely above 40. The other two VO2 maxs were still below 40 and had to catch up with existing improvements by undergoing physical training.

"We want everyone to be able to approach the standards set by KONI Banten for aeromodeling athletes, so that during the pre-competition preparation and competition the athletes are not too far away to approach the VO2 Max target of KONI Banten," he said.

Meanwhile, related to technical training, he conveyed, so far it is still being done once a week. Technical training is more focused on number specialization that athletes follow in PON.

"Now we are trained to maximize the technique in our specialization number, for example I played in the F3J Soaring Glider, the technique in that category that I am working on. Julita played in FH 1 Glider, she improved her technical skills there, "said Achmad Teguh Tamami, the Banten aeromodeling athlete who is also the Head of Pordiga Aeromodeling Banten.

It's just that, he said, until now his party has had difficulty undergoing technical training for athletes who are domiciled in Tangerang. This is because it is related to the Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) which have been established in Banten where the training places which are usually used today cannot be used.

"Even though the field in BSD City, Cisauk is very representative for technical training because it is wide. As a solution, we do technical training once a week simultaneously at the Gorda Air Force Lapter, Serang district, "he concluded.
