Dr. Aaron received the first COVID-19 vaccine in Papua
Dr Aaron Rumainum, became the first recipient of the COVID-19 vaccine in Papua after injecting the vaccine himself into his arm.
"Vaccine injection is done by him to educate the public that the vaccine is safe," Aaron told Antara in Jayapura, Wednesday.
Admittedly, when he injected and received the vaccine, his arm had felt a bit sore and his head felt different and it wasn't a headache.
However, after 30 minutes his body condition was stable until he was doing his usual activities, said dr. Aaron, who serves as Head of Disease Prevention and Control (P2P) at the Papua Health Office.
Pangdam XVII Cenderawasih Maj. Gen. Ignatius Yogo Triyono (55 years) who became one of the volunteers receiving the COVID-19 vaccine stated that there are no specific criteria that most importantly meet the criteria as a vaccine recipient, namely aged 18-59 years, have never been infected with COVID-19 and do not have comorbidities according to the specified criteria.
"There is no special readiness. The most important thing is to keep implementing health protocols related to COVID-19 and exercising," said Maj. Gen. Yogo.
The deputy mayor of Jayapura Rustan Saru (58 years old) also said that he would be the oldest recipient of the vaccine in Papua, while stating that his participation was not only to become an example for the community but also MUI had issued a fatwa regarding its halalness and BPOM had approved it.
The vaccine will provide immunity for the recipient's body, especially against COVID-19, while related to the impact, Rustan Saru said, the vaccine given to babies during immunization also has an impact, for example fever or others and that's common.
"Hopefully the public will accept the vaccine and when it has been injected they will not experience allergies or other worrying effects," said Rustan Saru, who stated that he was ready to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
As many as 13 other COVID-19 vaccine recipients in Papua, namely Maj. Gen. Ignatius Yogo Triyanto, Kombes Jeremias Rontini, Rustan Saru, Christian Sohilait, dr. Donald Arronggear, dr. Juliwati, Elianus Tabuni, Ruddy Yanny Karundeng, Pdt Sumiran, dr. Stevanus Andi Pranata, Albert Maniani, Christian Dolfie Warouw and Ferdinand Markus Okoseray.
The launch of the COVID-19 vaccine is scheduled in Jayapura and Papua to receive 14,680 Sinovac vaccines which are currently stored in a refrigerator in the Jayapura Hospital Dok II environment.
