PON Papua is not just a sports tournament




Chairman of the DPD RI, AA La Nyalla Mahmud Mattalitti, and the ranks carried out a visit to the main venue for the implementation of PON XX / 2021 Papua and also development on Cenderawasih Earth, Wednesday (3/2/2021).

During this visit, La Nyalla Mahmud Mattalitti visited the locations of PON XX to find out the readiness of the Papua Provincial Government as the host of the four-year national event.

La Nyalla Mahmud Mattalitti revealed that the PON XX Papua event is not just a sports tournament.

He said that this could be a factor that would support the development of the Cendrawasih Earth.

"The election of Papua to host the XX PON is a historic moment. A moment to awaken the pride and identity of indigenous Papuans. PON can also be a momentum to mobilize regional economic equality for all levels of Papuan society," said La Nyalla.

"This event is also an arena for knitting togetherness, celebrating diversity, and strengthening brotherhood, thus strengthening our unity and integrity," he said.

In addition, the former PSSI chairman hopes that the athletes who will later fight in the XX Papua PON can also excel at the Asian and even world level.

In addition, the implementation of XX PON can also increase the economic growth of the community. La Nyalla also hopes that Papua can be a good host and accept the presence of athletes and supporters.

On that occasion, La Nyalla also praised the beauty of the Land of Papua. According to him, the beauty of Papua has been well known to foreign countries.

"Papua has also been known as a leading tourist destination in the eastern tip of Indonesia. Papua has all the extraordinary natural beauty. In fact, one of the seven highest mountain peaks in the world is in Papua, namely the Jayawijaya mountains, which have eternal snow," he said.

Not only is it rich in nature, Papua also has local cultural wisdom that is still authentic. This uniqueness is a wealth that is not owned by any part of the world.

"Many people say Papua is a small paradise that fell to earth. That is true in the Land of Papua. Our job is to protect and preserve it. Do not let that little paradise disappear," said La Nyalla.

This man from East Java also hopes that the stakeholders in Papua will provide suggestions and input to the DPD RI to support the development of Papua.

"The DPD RI is open to hearing suggestions and input from stakeholders in Papua. Especially for the acceleration of welfare development as a basis for our commitment to resolve the root problems in Papua," said La Nyalla.

"The principle is to accelerate the development of Papua which is humanist, inclusive and sustainable, which is oriented towards fulfilling the basic rights of the Papuan people."

The series of La Nyalla's working visits in Papua and West Papua were followed by a friendly meeting with the Deputy Governor of Papua, Klemen Tinal.
