This year the Fisheries Service Builds Marine Tourism Market
This year the Mimika Regency Fisheries Service plans to build a Marine Tourism Market located near Mangrove Forest Tourism and a Freshwater Fish Farming Market in the Central Market. But market development is still waiting for the DPA from the 2021 APBD.
Head of the Mimika Regency Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Service, Leentje Siwabessy, said that the plan to develop the culinary tourism market is a collaboration between the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Sports.
"So we want to promote culinary tourism in the fisheries sector, so that includes processed shrimp, crab, freshwater and marine fish as well as pre-processing products," said Leentje when met at the Fisheries Office, Monday (22/2)
According to Leentje, this development plan is an idea that has been proposed since last year but has not been accommodated.
"Later, the third party will manage in accordance with our rules (the Department of Marine and Fisheries," he explained.
In addition to culinary tours, said Leentje, his party also plans to cooperate with the Industry and Trade Office to open a special market for freshwater fish cultivation, which is located in the central market.
"Especially for the freshwater cultivated fish market, so we will build an aquarium, the contents of the cultivated fish, the people will just come to buy," he explained.
Leentje hopes that a planned program can help with the marketing of fishery products and their processed products, as well as support the promotion of these products during the upcoming PON XX and Pesparawi. But the two development plans still have to wait for the 2021 APBD.
"So this development will adjust to the budget, we will see what it looks like later," he said.
