1,000 Papuan Youths Will Join as Reserve Components

The Indonesian Ministry of Defense wants to invite all Indonesian citizens including Papuan youth to build a defense system from an early age so that Indonesia can be respected and even taken into account by other countries.

"Therefore, the Ministry of Defense recruited 1,000 reserve components from Papua," said the Director of Veterans of the Directorate General of Defense Potential of the Indonesian Ministry of Defense, Brigadier General TNI Haryadi during the socialization of Law Number 23 of 2019 concerning Management of National Resources for National Defense at Tonni A Rompis Hall, Makodam XVII / Cenderawasih, Wednesday (10/3).

He explained that he came to Kodam XVII / Cenderawasih to provide socialization and understanding regarding the management of national resources for national defense.

Brigjen Haryadi explained that the implementation of the Reserve Component education will be trained militarily for 3 months and each year there will be a refresher training exercise for 1-2 weeks.

He added that the use of the Reserve Component would be mobilized when the country needed it.

Meanwhile, Kasdam XVII / Cenderawasih Brigadier General Bambang Trisnohadi thanked the team from the Indonesian Ministry of Defense for the socialization.

"Kodam XVII / Cenderawasih together with Forkopimda Papua Province and other elements of society will do their best in realizing the development of a strong and universal national defense system in order to protect the sovereignty of the Republic of Indonesia, especially in Papua Province," explained Kasdam.
