Journalists in Wamena Receive Covid-19 Vaccination

Journalists in Wamena, the capital city of Jayawijaya receive Covid-19 vaccination at Wamena Regional Hospital.

RRI journalist Wamena Afrianti Marbun said giving vaccinations made her more confident in carrying out her duties as a journalist in the field.

"Before receiving the vaccine, I was nervous. However, after being injected with the vaccine, he did not get sick. 30 minutes after being vaccinated, there were no side effects either, ”said Afri, Tuesday, March 9, 2021.

He thanked the government for paying attention to journalists in Wamena who could receive the Covid-19 vaccine first.

"Moreover, every day, we meet many people in the field to seek information that will be presented to the public. Our mobility is quite high, so we are at risk of being exposed to Covid-19. We are grateful to have received vaccination, ”he explained.

Afri also asked people not to be afraid or worried about receiving vaccinations.

Head of the Jayawijaya Health Office, doctor Willy Mambieu, appreciated the participation of journalists in Wamena in vaccination, because it can help provide information to the public.

"With journalists receiving the vaccine earlier, the government will also be assisted in providing information related to Covid-19 vaccination to the public. Journalists can feel the effects of the vaccination themselves, ”he said.

Apart from journalists, today a number of regional officials or other institutions have also requested vaccinations, such as the DPRD, courts, churches, some from the KPU, KPPN, PTSP.

Meanwhile, the implementation of vaccination for health workers in Wamena has reached 85 percent.

"For press workers and ASN, TNI-Polri who have not received vaccines, it does not mean that they are stopped, they will still be served if there is a chance to return, in fact we open up bigger opportunities. We are very happy, if people want to vaccinate earlier. That's even better, "he explained.

He said that the Jayawijaya Regency Government is currently drafting a regional regulation for handling Covid-19. One of the points will be regulating who has received vaccinations, whether they can travel without a rapid test or something, which is still being drafted.

"Vaccination does not mean that it is free from Covid-19. The possibility of contracting Covid-19 is still possible, but the symptoms are not the same for those who have not received the vaccine, "he explained.
