Long before independence, Papua was part of the Republic of Indonesia
The stories about Papua are always interesting. Not only the uniqueness of its customs and culture, but also its history, such as the narrative of the living witness of Pepera and Ondofolo Ramses Ohee to the Commander of the Silas Papare Base in Jayapura, Marsma TNI Dr. Budhi Achmadi, in Waena Jayapura, Thursday 28 January 2021.
Papua as part of the Republic of Indonesia cannot be sued by anyone, that is absolute. Because said Ramses Ohee has gone through a democratic political process, namely by holding the Popular Opinion Determination (Pepera) in 1969. The Act which was carried out under the mandate of the United Nations at that time, resulted in the majority of Papuan people choosing to join the Republic of Indonesia.
Ramses Ohee, Chairperson of the Red and White Barisan and one of the living witnesses of Pepera and Ondofolo, who said that the history of Papua being part of the Republic of Indonesia has actually been sparked since the Youth Pledge in 1928.
This was evidenced by the presence of a Papuan figure, Poreu Ohee (father of Ramses Ohee) at the Youth Pledge congress, in Jakarta in 1928. At that time Poreu Ohee was present with the capacity as a Papuan youth leader, namely the Head of Sentani Village, Papua (1927), his position as the Village Head. held on the appointment of the Sultan of Tidore, because Papua at that time was under the rule of the Sultanate of Tidore.
This fact also confirms that Papua has become part of the Kingdom in the archipelago (Tidore) in the pre-independence era (document of appointment by Sultan Tidore as Head of Sentani Village in 1927)
"When I was a child, my father used to tell me how he was present at the Youth Pledge in Jakarta in 1928 representing Papuan youths," said Ramses Ohee to Danlanud Silas Papare, Jayapura.
In a press release sent by the MEPAGO.CO editorial, last night Ramses Ohee regretted, at that time, the documentation system had not been managed properly, so the story of a Papuan youth named Poreu Ohee joining the Youth Pledge was not stored properly, and only became a hereditary story in the Ohee family. in Sentani.
Ramses Ohee has indeed received the Satya Badge Pepera, but he has not succeeded in fighting for his father Poreu Ohee to become a hero until now.
