Head of the Papua Province Transportation Agency, Recky D Ambrauw said that transportation problems during the PON Papua 2021 agenda had been anticipated, especially related to the mobilization of players (athletes) and officials. The Papua Transportation Agency has written to the Ministry of Transportation and prepared 418 buses of two types.

"PON support for transportation comes from the Ministry of Transportation and there is also local transportation. There are 418 buses prepared to be sent to Papua and this is from the ministry but we will empower local vehicles, ”explained Recky on the sidelines of the Musda to the XI DPD Organda Papua at the Horizon Ultima Entrop, Tuesday (9/3).

However, not all of these 418 buses are said to be in Jayapura but will be distributed again to four clusters and after the PON is completed, according to Recky, the rental buses will be brought home while the new buses will be handed over to the provincial government. The number is in accordance with the needs of the four existing clusters.

"The Ministry of Transportation also bears the driver and fuel but we also propose that the drivers in Papua are also empowered and hopefully they can be accepted. Meanwhile, local cars will have a package with the driver, ”added Recky.

For the bus later it can carry 24 passengers while the micro bus can only have 19 passengers. This measure is not without a study because according to Recky his party has calculated the width of the road body so that they cannot force it to bring in a large bus.

"So we and the ministry have checked road conditions, road width and others and the ideal one is a bus with 24 passengers and 19 passengers because if it is too big it will be difficult to turn around," he concluded.
