Welcoming PON XX Papua, West Java Prepares 2 Thousand Doses of Covid-19 Vaccine

 

West Java is ready to welcome the XX National Sports Week (PON) in Papua in October 2021. To succeed the event, the West Java Regional Government (Pemda) will prepare 2,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine for contingent athletes and their devices that will participate in XX PON in Papua.

West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil asked for vaccine injections to be prepared from now on. The goal is not to be stuck with the timing of the XX PON in Papua in October 2021.

"We have prepared vaccinations for athletes because it takes several months from the day of H. So, don't be tight. We have prepared 2,000 doses of vaccine," said Ridwan Kamil at Gedung Sate, Bandung City, Tuesday (16/3/2021).

After being delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the central government set the XX PON in Papua to be held on October 2-15, 2021. All athletes and equipment contingents must be vaccinated first. Security and safety aspects are also of concern to the government.

In addition, the Governor who is familiarly called Kang Emil also ensured that the West Java contingent was ready to compete in this sporting event.

"According to the athletes, compared to other provinces, we continue to do training, the budget is also adjusted. So the preparation for PON Papua 2021 should be in prime condition," he said.

In the XIX PON which was held in 2016 in West Java, West Java came out as the overall champion by collecting 531 medals (217 gold, 157 silver and 157 bronze). Kang Emil also hopes that the West Java contingent can achieve satisfactory results in the XX PON in Papua.
