Menpora Wants Athletes & Supporting Personnel To Have Been Vaccinated Before PON XX

The Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Indonesia (Menpora RI) Zainudin Amali hopes that all athletes, coaches, support staff who will participate in the implementation of the XX National Sports Week (PON) in October until the community around the match venue will be vaccinated before the sporting party begins.

"The President's directive is that all contingents must be vaccinated. Athletes, coaches, support staff. Even the President also appealed to all people around the venue where the PON match should be vaccinated before the implementation of PON begins," said the Menpora after attending the XX 2021 PON Papua Development Coordination Meeting. with DPD RI in GBHN Room Nusantara V Building, Jakarta, Thursday (1/4/2021).

In addition to delivering vaccinations, the Menpora also asked his staff to monitor the best practices that will be applied to the implementation of PON Papua after the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.

"Regarding the procedures for implementing PON Papua, it will be seen from the development of the situation in the future. Like now, the implementation of sports activities has started. We decided that there will be no spectators in the pre-season football for the Menpora Cup," he said.

Kemenpora will also coordinate intensely with related parties so that the implementation of PON XX Papua runs smoothly, both with PB PON, KONI and the Ministry of Finance to assign Kemenpora officials in Papua.

"PB PON XX is ready. We are also deploying a team from the Ministry of Youth and Sports which is currently in Papua. And as our commitment, we will place Kemenpora officials in Papua. So that, they can supervise, can communicate what matters are needed, "said Menpora Amali.

The PON is planned to compete in 37 sports, 56 sports disciplines, 679 competition numbers and 6,442 athletes. Held in Jayapura City, Jayapura Regency, Mimika Regency, and Merauke Regency.

The Jayapura City Cluster will compete for 15 sports with 21 disciplinary numbers. District Cluster. Jayapura competes 14 sports and 22 disciplinary numbers. The Mimika cluster competes 9 sports and 12 disciplinary numbers, and the Merauke cluster has 6 sports and 6 disciplines.
