Papuan Leaders Support Law Enforcement for Special Autonomy Fund fraud
The figure of the Papuan community, Reverend Albert Yoku asked the government to be firm in enforcing the law for local government officials who misuse Special Autonomy (Otsus) funds.
"We hope that there must be law enforcement in Papua, especially government officials in the regions as well as all those who misuse Special Autonomy funds," said Albert Yoku while with the Forum for Regional Heads of the Land of Tabi and Sairei (FORKADA) Papua Province to hold an audience with the Coordinating Minister for the field of Politics, Law and Security Mahfud MD, at the Palace Ballroom, Sari Pan Pacific Hotel, Jakarta.
According to him, Otsus is a big blessing from the central government for indigenous Papuans. So the implementation must be closely monitored in order to achieve the goal. "If used properly it will be a blessing, especially in the fields of education, health and economy," added Albert.
In the same vein, the woman figure who is also the Chairperson of the Papuan Evangelical Christian Church (PW GKI) Women's Fellowship, Dorince Mehue, asked the central government to evaluate the use and management of the special autonomy fund since 2002 until now. a number of people so that the impact does not reach the people of Papua, "said Dorince Mehue.
According to Dorince, the central government needs to carry out a joint evaluation with the Papuan and West Papua People's Assembly, including evaluating the gaps between customary territories that still exist.
"Papua Province must be expanded, to achieve justice so that not only a number of indigenous territories and territories will receive sufficient special autonomy funds. We are ready to support central government policies," he added.
In response to this, Mahfud MD will follow up and have gathered the Attorney General's Office, the KPK and the Police so that law enforcement immediately enforces the law in Papua.
"I always listen to this matter of law enforcement when having a dialogue with the community and Papuan leaders. Therefore we are following up, we are gathering the Attorney General's Office, the Corruption Eradication Commission, the Police, to bring this aspiration, we will follow up on law enforcement," Mahfud said.
Regarding various other proposals including the expansion of the province, he emphasized that he would follow it up in two steps. First, the legislation process which will later be submitted to the team through the Ministry of Home Affairs.
"Second, I have asked the deputy one of the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs to immediately map out the area for its expansion, including reviewing the proposals from the regional heads and community leaders," he concluded.
