Ministry of Transportation Presents Sea Highway in Nduga Regency, Papua




The government, through the Ministry of Transportation's Directorate General of Sea Transportation, has opened the door for the distribution of Sea Highway logistics to Nduga Regency, Papua.

Meanwhile, the logistics distribution process will be carried out by means of a multimodal synergy.

The Regent of Nduga Wentius Nimiangge appreciated this activity as one of a series of programs to accelerate development in the Nduga region that has not been touched so far.

"The condition of the people of Nduga is very apprehensive and needs immediate assistance," he said, Thursday (22/4).

Nduga has not been reached by any assistance due to security problems. In fact, according to him, the current condition of Nduga is safe so that assistance and development can be carried out in the area.

During the meeting, several urgent matters were conveyed that were urgently needed by the community in addition to logistics, food and other important staples, such as housing needs for around 5,000 displaced residents, health facilities, hospitals as well as adequate electricity and Internet networks.

"We hope that the situation of the people of Nduga can be voiced so that it is known by many parties," said Wentius.

Member of the Indonesian House of Representatives Commission I Yan Mandenas who visited Nduga said he had heard input from the Regent as well as local communities and traditional leaders.

"Many things were conveyed, several things that needed to be immediately formed were the Kodim, 4G network, hospitals and houses for the refugees totaling 5,000 houses," he said.

Kasie Lala & Port Business, Jayapura KSOP Class II, Kemenhub Willem Thobias Fofid emphasized that his party is also ready to be present on Nduga land through the Sea Toll program.

Where other needs and logistics needed by Nduga residents can be met by shipments via the Sea Highway.

"We also through the Jayapura KSOP have coordinated and synergized with the regional government, related agencies and the Papua Regional Police to optimize the Sea Toll program," he said.

From the regional characteristics of the central mountains, one of the focuses of the implementation of the Sea Highway is a scheduled and regular logistic distribution service in Nduga Regency.

In addition, Willem revealed that Nduga residents also admitted that they really needed logistics distribution services and port and airport transportation as well as multimodal connectivity.

Including road access that can connect the Mumugu One - Kenyam, then Kenyam - Mbua then Kenyam - Iniye and Kenyam - Gearek routes including the access that connects Nduga - Yahukimo.

The implementation of the Sea Highway in the Land of Papua is an embodiment of one of the visions of Indonesia's Maritime Axis. The Sea Highway in the area is Route T-19 with a KM fleet. Nusantara Logistics 2.
