The Special Autonomy Fund Keeps Papua Growing
The Governor of West Papua, Dominggus Mandacan, said that the special autonomy fund (Otsus) volume II was running effectively. He also emphasized that there are two things that need to be done in Special Autonomy Volume II apart from funding issues.
First, according to Dominggus, giving greater authority to the Provincial Government of Cenderawasih Earth in terms of human resources (HR) and natural resources (SDA). While the second is the involvement of related ministries.
"Many Papuan children who managed to go to school to receive education in higher education thanks to the special autonomy funds, both (attending school) at home and abroad," said Dominggus.
As for the health sector, the Special Autonomy Fund is useful for improving services, in big cities and in rural areas. Also through the Special Autonomy Fund, infrastructure has developed, such as bridges, roads and other infrastructure.
For information, the special autonomy fund is intended so that the Papuan people have the authority to regulate their lives. This is because the Special Autonomy Fund includes an empowerment program for indigenous Papuans.
Another thing that needs attention is the evaluation of the use of special autonomy funds. This is for the sake of the sustainability of the Special Autonomy Fund and can make the people and regions of Papua more advanced.
The Papua Special Autonomy Fund has proven to have turned the province at the easternmost tip of Indonesia into a province that has made significant progress. So it would be very unfortunate if this fund could no longer be continued, considering that many Papuans enjoyed this fund. And the special autonomy funds also make Papua continue to experience development.
