KPK Opens Investigation on the Biggest Corruption Case in Papua




Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud Md had said that the government would investigate the misuse of state funds in Papua. The KPK said that it was currently starting to open the largest corruption investigation in Papua.

"Following up on public reports, the KPK is currently conducting further investigation by collecting a number of data and requesting information from parties related to allegations of corruption in the Papua region," said KPK spokesman Ali Fikri.

Ali said the allegations of the largest corruption in Papua range from procurement to bribery. He confirmed that his party is currently collecting data and information regarding the alleged corruption.

"The allegations of corruption include procurement, bribery and gratuities," he said.

Even so, Ali said that his party had not been able to convey the developments related to the alleged corruption in Papua. He ensured that the KPK would deliver further developments regarding this allegation.

"Currently, the KPK has not been able to deliver the material from the activity in question. However, we will submit any further developments in due time, after all activities are completed," he said.

Previously, Mahfud Md, explained a series of government policies related to Papua. One of the policies is related to allegations of corruption in the Papua region.

Mahfud said that so far there are parties who have questioned why corruption in Papua is allowed. He also ensured that law enforcement would be carried out.

"So far, people often question why corruption is allowed there. We have now determined the 10 biggest corruption cases, both reports from BPK and findings from BIN," said Mahfud.

"This will be carried out by law enforcement against them," he said.
