The existence of a roller skating venue in the Waena Camping Ground Area (Buper), Jayapura City, has presented a new history in Papua. For the first time, the venue stands majestically on the Earth of Cenderawasih.

The roller skating venue is one of the venues prepared for the XX National Sports Week (PON), next October. The venue is nearing completion and only work is left for the final or finishing stages.

The PON XX roller skate venue is touted as the best in Asia for the time being. The facilities and standards are of international class.

The venue, which has been in progress since the beginning of 2020, now only leaves the process of painting the track and building walls. To date, the overall progress of the work is nearing 95 percent.

PT Nindya Karya (NK) Project Manager, Fatahillah, who handled the construction of the XX PON roller skating venue, said that the progress of the venue would be closed by painting the track using foreign experts.

"Our plan is at 95.91 percent, currently the realization is 94.67 percent, where this realization will be closed when the Vesmaco applicator for the route comes," Fatah explained to reporters, including Jubi, recently.

The same thing was also conveyed by the Head of the Papua Roller Skates Association (Perserosi) Pengprov, Jefri Abel. He said that the progress of the PON XX Papua roller skating venue was nearing completion and would be handed over to the Papua Government in the second week of June.

"Until today, we have confirmed that the roller skating venue will be ready to be handed over to the Papua Provincial Government in the second week of June. Meanwhile, the progress is still in the finishing stage, wall and track painting. The progress is still around 95 percent, ”said Abel.

Because the roller skating venue in Tanah Papua is relatively new, the PON XX roller skating committee (Panpel) will also prepare 177 Human Resources (SDM).

"For the time being, the number of Panpel's human resources has reached 177 people because there are two venues used, namely the Buper and the Red Bridge, so we need a lot of human resources. There are 177 people currently covered. Our plan is to hold seminars to provide provision to these human resources in the near future, because this sport is relatively new. We will make a guidebook to be presented to our HR friends, "explained the Head of Panpel for roller skating, Yonas Randa Bua.

Largest on the Asian Continent

The PON XX roller skate venue is claimed to be the largest and the best indoor venue in the Asian continent. A number of devices were imported from abroad.

“The roller skating venue built for PON is arguably the biggest and also the best indoor venue in Asia at this time. It is called the best because the track uses a Vesmaco from Italy, which is one of the conditions recognized by the world roller skating federation, ”explained Fatah as the project manager.

The venue, which was built on an area of ​​26,520 square meters with a building area of ​​6,067 square meters, has a grandstand capacity of 650 spectators. The facilities used at the venue are first class and disabled friendly.

“This venue is disabled friendly, starting from the lobby to the indoor rooms, except for the second floor. Never mind PON, this venue can also be used for paralympic games. This venue is equipped with quick access to an ambulance, doping room and warehouse. For the track, we use experts from Korea, ”said Fatah.
