The Momentum of 51 Years of Papua in the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia is to be grateful for

Usai Alom, a community leader in Ilaga, Puncak Regency, Papua, said that Papuans are now as independent as their brothers and sisters from various other parts of Indonesia. So, he appealed to no need for any more statements about Free Papua.

"Indonesia has been independent for 75 years, so there is no need to talk about independence. Let's build Papua so that it is more advanced, safer, so that everyone can freely earn a living economy, children can go to school," said Usai Alom as quoted by Antara. quoted from ANTARA, Sunday (2/5/2021).

After Alom said that in order for the people of Papua, especially Puncak Regency, to be able to carry out activities freely without fear, it was necessary to ensure security from the TNI-Polri. According to him, if there is no security from the TNI-Polri, certain elements can carry firearms at will to frighten residents, carry out terror, even acts of violence against them.

"We don't want that to happen again. This is an independent country. The government has come to build so that people can prosper," he said.

After Alom said, the Ilaga and Puncak regencies are sacred areas, where no one is allowed to do arbitrary acts to other people or to the nature around them. Even so, Alom said that the security situation in the Ilaga area and Puncak Regency in general has now become more conducive.

"The local government, security forces and the church are always there to protect us, the community. It is not true that people have been displaced from Ilaga," he said.

For other information, the government, through the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD, has included the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) into the category of terrorism. After this decision, a number of parties argued that this decision could threaten the security of Papuans.
