One of them is by opening up investment opportunities in the port.

The port development in the area is carried out by the KSOP Class II Jayapura as the regional coordinator of the ports in Papua Province together with the Jayapura Regency Regional Government, including the optimization of multi-purpose ports and Container Yards that are already operating. Depapre Port in Jayapura Regency, Papua Province is considered very strategic. Both geographically and geopolitically and geostrategically to be developed. Mathius explained that Depapre Port has tremendous potential. Apart from being prepared to serve the Sea Highway in Papua, Depapre Port is also in a strategic location, which is in Tanah Merah Bay which faces directly to the Pacific Ocean, thus opening up opportunities for Depapre Port to become a hub or gateway for international trade, especially in the Asia Pacific region.

"With a location that juts inward and overlooks the Pacific Ocean, the Port of Depapre will be the berth place for large ships passing through the region," he said.

With this potential, the presence of Depapre Port will have a positive impact on the regional economy, therefore the Jayapura Regency Government and the Jayapura Class II KSOP continue to work together to develop Depapre Port not only for the Sea Highway, but also to move the economy in the maritime sector. more broadly.

"To develop the Port of Depapre, investment is needed. For that, we held this meeting, considering that the Port of Depapre is also a National Strategic Area which has tremendous potential, "he said.

Head of the Section for Marine Transportation Traffic and Port Business of the Class II Jayapura KSOP, Willem Thobias Fofid, said that his party is also ready to support the development of Depapre Port. Especially because the port is an access to connectivity that connects the Papua and West Papua regions.

"The investment and development of the Port of Depapre is in order to maximize the regional potential as a superior commodity and Depapre in facing Indonesia's maritime trade," he concluded.

Depapre Port development is expected to produce superior Papuan commodities such as rice, rubber, palm oil and gambier in Merauke Regency, then fisheries in Mimika Regency and Supiori Regency as well as in Biak Numfor Regency including Batu Ciping and processed wood in Jayapura Regency as well as many other superior commodities. in Papua, it can penetrate international trade routes to pacific countries such as PNG, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Palau and other neighboring countries.
