PON Papua Contingent Will Get Direct Flight Facilities

 

The XX Papua National Sports Week (PON) contingent will get more facilities. One of them is by making flights as efficient as possible so that athletes are not tired.

The idea emerged when the General Chairman of the Central KONI, Marciano Norman, received the Garuda Indonesia board of directors represented by President Director Irfaniaputra at the KONI office, Senayan, on Tuesday (27/4/2021).

Marciano explained that the need for air flights is very important for the sports community because there are many events that require athletes to use air transportation.

One of the closest events is the XX PON in 2021 in Papua. The four-year national multievent will be held in four clusters, namely Jayapura City, Jayapura Regency, Mimika Regency, and Merauke Regency on October 2-15.

For this reason, with this cooperation plan, someday all members of the Central KONI, both 34 Provincial KONIs to 71 main sports branches, will get the benefits.

"This means that the flight from the area of ​​origin will go straight to the cluster where the athlete will compete. In addition, as much as possible as efficiently as possible, do not let the athlete get tired before competing," said Marciano in his written statement to detikSport.

, President Director Irfan Everyutra who was accompanied by Marketing Director M.R Pahlevi, Director of Maintenance, Rahmat Hanafi, welcomed the plan of cooperation positively. "Thank you very much if you want to work together," said Irfan.

"Garuda can arrange packages to see Papua, such as Raja Ampat, for example," said the Garuda Managing Director regarding the services that will be provided as well as increasing the passion for tourism in the country.

However, he also hopes that there will be an increase in airport infrastructure in Papua so that it can land large-capacity aircraft.
