The Red and White Youth Alliance Supports Special Autonomy and the Expansion of Papua

 

The Indonesian Red and White Youth ALLIANCE, Papua Province, held a demonstration demanding special autonomy for Papua and the division of the province to the attention of the central government. A demonstration was held at Taman Imbi Jayapura City.

"We support autonomy and the expansion of new autonomous regions, because it can stimulate progress in each region," said Ali Kabiay, chairman of the Indonesian Red and White Youth Alliance for Papua Province.

The demonstration, said Kabiay, is to encourage the central government to respond to developments in issues that have a long impact on people's welfare and stability and security in the region. "There are many dynamics happening in Papua, therefore we have the right to voice this, to be the concern of all parties, especially the central government," he said.

According to him, there are ten points of statement that will be forwarded to the DPR RI Commission 1, Menkopolhukam, Polda Papua, and DPRD Papua. The 10 points are supporting the sustainability of special autonomy for the welfare of the Papuan people, asking the KPK to conduct investigations in Papua regarding indications of corruption, supporting the expansion and new autonomous regions in Papua, increasing the status of terrorists for the OPM, and conducting an examination of the MRP (Assembly). Papuan people) related to the RDP (Hearing Meeting) budget that was used including the results of the RDP which was conducted in three customary areas.
