This is the Step of KSOP Bitung to Optimize Sea Highway Cargo
The existence of the Sea Highway is not only to reduce price disparities between regions. However, it can also improve the economy and people's welfare. The reason is, there are many potential superior local products that can be commodities to be sent to other regions.
"The increase in the economy and the welfare of the community can be achieved if the return cargo of the Sea Toll Road can be optimized so that local products can be delivered to farther and more profitable markets," said Head of the Class II Bitung Mursidi KSOP Office in Bitung, North Sulawesi, in a statement received by Repulika. co.id, Friday (19/3).
Therefore, as a form of support and efforts to ensure the smooth loading of Sea Highway containers, the Ministry of Transportation continues to encourage optimization of the return cargo of the Sea Toll Road. Not only in Papua, but also in North Sulawesi.
In supporting this, the Directorate General of Sea Transportation through the Bitung Class II Port Authority and Harbormaster Office (KSOP) has taken a number of steps, namely increasing supervision and coordination and synergizing with related agencies, in order to provide significant benefits to the optimization of cargo.
Mursidi revealed, currently there are 2 (two) fleets which are sea transportation facilities used to support the success of the Sea Highway, namely KM. Kendhaga Nusantara I and KM. Kendhaga Nusantara XIII. "The two fleets have different routes," said Mursidi.
Mursidi explained, from January to mid-March 2021, KM. Kendhaga Nusantara 1, which serves the Ulu Siau / Tagulandang - Tahuna - Lirung / Melonguane - Miangas - Marore - PP shipping route, has transported 1 box of cars and 28 boxes of Copra from Tahuna Harbor, 55 boxes of Kopra, 8 boxes of Charcoal and 12 Fish box (Reefer) for these three commodities originate from the ports of Lirung / Melonguane.
"Meanwhile, the cargo from Bitung port, 2 boxes of rice and 4 boxes of rice destined for Lirung / Melonguane Port, with a total of 4 calls four times," he said.
Besides that, KM. Kendhaga Nusantara 13, which serves the shipping route Luwuk - Pagimana - Bunta - Matangisi - Ampana - Parigi / Tinombo - Tilamuta, has transported 13 boxes of rice from Parigi / Tinombo Port. Meanwhile, the cargo from Bitung, 53 boxes containing cement destined for the ports of Luwuk, Pagimana, Bunta, Matangisi, and also 3 boxes of mineral water destined for the Port of Parigi / Tinombo.
Previously, Mursidi said, Bitung Class II KSOP supervisors had carried out field surveillance at KM Kendhaga Nusantara 13 which was temporarily loading, 38 boxes of Cement and 10 boxes of Mineral Water.
From the results of the supervision carried out, the loading and unloading activities of the Sea Toll Road were observed to be safe and smooth. In addition, the Sea Highway containers do not yet have a place to stay at the Port of Bitung, so the containers are still sailing even though they are empty.
"Based on the results of the supervision, his party will continue to strive to encourage the optimization of content to all related parties so that the potential for local products can be recognized and get benefits in other regional markets which can improve the economy and welfare of the community," said Mursidi.
