The Mimika Cluster PON Sub PB Committee is ready to carry out the XX Papua PON in September 2021 in a magnificent and festive manner.

Apart from the competition, there are several series of activities that have been prepared by the organizing committee. This activity can be witnessed by residents because in addition to entertaining, improving the residents' economy also contains historical values.

Coordinator of the Mimika PON Sub PB Ceremony, Handry Titaley, said that there were seven activities that were the task of his team in this grand sporting event.

The seven activities are, PON Festival, PON Fire Carnival, Contingent Welcoming and Returning, Dinner Banquet, Contingent Flag Raising Ceremony, Opening and Closing Ceremony of Sports Branches and Winning Ceremony.

"For Gebyar PON, it will be held in June tomorrow. This is festive, because it involves UMKM elements, "explained Handry after the Mimika PON Sub PB Division I Coordination Meeting at the Horison Timika Hotel, Wednesday (19/5/2021) night.

It was explained that in this activity, the opening of art work stalls and other PON souvenirs would be held.

"We have coordinated with colleagues in the Socio-Economic and Marketing Sector for this matter," he explained.

This PON XX celebration, it is said, will be held for one day by presenting an entertainment stage.

"The goal is to echo the atmosphere of PON and revive MSMEs. But this is of course done with very strict health protocols. We will announce the implementation date after this exercise venue, "he said.

Next, the PON Fire Kirab. This activity involves a motorbike club, a bicycle club, school children and the Indonesian National Armed Forces-Police.

The fire in the torch will arrive in Timika in September and will then be paraded starting from Kuala Kencana to Timika and ending at the Government Headquarters.

The fire will also pass through five indigenous Papuan areas, which include Biak (Saereri), Wamena (La Pago), Mimika (Mee Pago), Merauke (Anim Ha), Jayapura City and Jayapura (Mamta) districts.

"In Timika, this fire is expected to pass through various PON venues as a symbol of the fighting spirit of the athletes," explained Handry.

The ceremony sector will also involve 120 members of Purna Paskibraka Indonesia (PPI) in organizing the XX Papua 2021 PON in Mimika Regency.

"The main PPI members will be involved in picking up and delivering the athlete contingent when they return home," he explained.

Furthermore, PPI members will also be involved in raising and lowering the contingent flag.

"In the event of raising and lowering the contingent's flag, there will be a colossal art and dance parade. This involves elements outside the PPI members, "explained Handry.

Furthermore, what is no less important, according to Handry is the Winners Honor Ceremony (UPP).

"UPP is held at each sport venue after each sporting event. PPI here will bring the medal tray to be put on the winner, "he explained.

Handry said that the readiness of the tasks carried out by the Ceremony Division was tested at the PON Athletics Indonesia Papua Open 2020 Test Event on February 27 to 29, 2020.

So that on this basis, his party does not hesitate to successfully hold all of the activities in the Mimika Cluster.

"We even received appreciation from TD Athletics at that time. So we have no doubt about their readiness. Like the spirit of the Regent, we guarantee it will be magnificent, ”concluded Handry.
