9 Residents Arrested, After Attending TPNPB-OPM General Assembly at Victoria Headquarters PNG

The Indonesian Border Security Task Force (Satgas Pamtas)-PNG Infantry Battalion 131/brs secures 9 residents, after attending the General Assembly of the West Papua National Liberation Army-Free Papua Organization (TPNPB-OPM) on July 1, 2021 at Victoria Headquarters, Bewani District, Papua New Guinea (PNG).

These nine residents were arrested during a routine patrol at Pos Petiwi, East Arso District, Keerom Regency, Papua, Wednesday (14/7/21) at around 00.15 WIT.

During the patrol, the task force personnel stopped a four-wheeled vehicle carrying 12 passengers. They were then asked to get off and check the identity of each passenger.

During the inspection, the officers found the TPNPB-OPM ID Card as well as a number of documents and attributes of independent Papua brought by the nine people, so they were immediately secured to the post for further examination.

“There were 12 people in the car, but during the inspection 9 people were found holding or carrying TPNPB-OPM cards, while 3 other people were residents of Skofro Village. They were then temporarily secured to the post for inspection," said Commander of the Battalion 131/Brs Task Force, Lt. Col. Inf. Muhammad Erfani in a written statement, Friday (16/7/2021).

In addition to securing nine members of the TPNPB-OPM, the officers also secured a number of evidences including ID Cards for the participants of the TPNPB-OPM general assembly, document sheets from the TPNPB-OPM session, five pairs of TPNPB-OPM uniforms, sharp weapons, machetes and six units of Hand Phone (HP).

Currently, the nine members of the TPNPB-OPM along with the evidence have been handed over to the Keerom Police for further processing.

"We secured the night, then in the morning we handed it over to our colleagues in the Police, namely the Keerom Police, for further examination," he said.
