OTSUS HAS BEEN SUCCESSFUL IN PAPUA

Human Resources Development (HR) in the education sector in Papua and West Papua has increased. This increase in human resources is due to the great attention of the Central Government in advancing Papuan human resources, one of which is through the allocation of Special Autonomy (Otsus) funds which prioritize education for Papuans.

Marselino Kapatok, Youth Leader of Torey Village, Rasiei District, expressed his gratitude to the Government which was considered very concerned about the Papuan people by presenting Otsus. "In general, Otsus provides relief and convenience for the community in controlling economic welfare, education and health," said Marselino.

The government needs to pay attention to the opinions and suggestions of the Papuan people represented by traditional leaders, religious leaders, youth leaders, women leaders and related academics in the preparation of revisions and changes to the Special Autonomy Law.

Talking about the success of Otsus, continued Marselino, it is undeniable that Otsus has brought much progress to the Papuan people. For example, school scholarships for Papuan children to study up to university level. Another example is the existence of a special quota in the selection of admissions for members of the TNI/Polri, IPDN cadets, and CPNS as evidence that Otsus is present to pay more attention to the Papuan people.

Marselino suggested that in the future, Otsus could be monitored more closely so as to minimize the potential for misuse of the budget that would adversely affect development progress in Papua.

As a Youth Leader in Torey Village, Marselino invites all Papuan people to support and participate in the success of Otsus so that it runs well in Papua, because basically Otsus is here to answer the needs of indigenous Papuans.
