The Vice President Calls the Sky Toll an Important Role, He Says This

Vice President Ma'ruf Amin explained how important the role of the sky toll road is in today's digital era.

According to him, one of what is meant by the sky toll is high-speed internet.

The provision of these facilities at the district/city level is an important capital towards a digital Indonesia.

The vice president conveyed this at a general lecture of the LXII Regular Education Program (PPRA) and the XXIII Forces Short Education Program (PPSA) of the 2021 National Resilience Institute (Lemhanas).

He expressed his views online from the vice president's official residence in Jakarta, Tuesday (6/7).

"The basic infrastructure is not only intended to support distance learning, but more broadly as an important capital towards a digital Indonesia," said the Vice President.

The Sky Toll infrastructure development is also supported by the Republic of Indonesia Satellite (Satria) I, whose launch is targeted at 2023, with high data transmission of up to 150 Gigabits per second (Gpbs).

He also assessed that the current state of the COVID-19 pandemic is a challenge for the government and the entire community to develop creativity and innovation by utilizing technology.

The Vice President realized that the COVID-19 pandemic was a challenge to create superior human resources (HR), through the education sector.

"Indonesian human resources must be prepared to be able to compete and quickly adapt to changes and developments in information technology that disrupt all fields," he said.

The face-to-face conventional learning system, continued the Vice President, is currently required to transform into online learning due to the pandemic conditions.

"The challenge of online learning is faced with the factual condition of the geographical distribution of the Indonesian population, which consists of thousands of islands, with different capabilities and availability of technological support from one region to another," he said.

The Vice President hopes that the Sky Toll Road can be an effort to distribute the internet network in all regencies and cities in Indonesia.

At least in order to support the implementation of distance learning in the education sector.
