Bamsoet strongly condemns the attack by KKB

MPR chairman Bambang Soesatyo (Bamsoet) strongly condemned the attacks carried out by the armed criminal group (KKB) in Papua. The attack killed two workers and injured several security personnel.

Bamsoet urged the police to be firm and thoroughly investigate the case. Most importantly, take action against the perpetrators according to the laws and regulations.

"I strongly condemn the actions of the KKB and ask for a firm stance from the police, both in investigating the case and taking action against the perpetrators in accordance with applicable laws and regulations," said Bamsoet in a written statement, Jakarta, Tuesday, August 24, 2021.

The MPR expressed its concern and condolences over the tragic death of two workers from PT Indo Mulia Baru. He asked the intelligence apparatus together with the Papuan regional government and the police to continue tightening to narrow the KKB area.

This includes studying the mode of attack carried out by the KKB, increasing guarding and guarding areas prone to KKB attacks, as well as urging the surrounding community to be more vigilant and stay away from points prone to KKB attacks.

According to him, the local police need to place personnel at points prone to KKB attacks. He also asked officers to increase security so that the surrounding community can live more safely and comfortably and avoid KKB attacks.

"I ask for the seriousness of the central government and the police in dealing with KKB, in addition to determining long-term steps and strategies to prevent the recurrence of KKB attacks that are troubling the community, both by prioritizing law enforcement and efforts to negotiate or approach dialogue with KKB involving prominent figures. customs and society," he said.

He asked the government to take a collaborative approach in resolving the conflict in Papua by prioritizing cooperation, interaction, and agreement with various related parties.
