The PON Event Shapes the Character of World-Class Athletes

The organizing committee for the National Sports Week (PON) assesses that the implementation of PON is able to shape the character of world-class athletes because this highest national multi-sport event requires participants to give their best performance.
 
This was stated by Chairman II of PB PON XX Papua 2021 Roy Letlora after seeing the preparations made by athletes and provincial administrators to compete in the four-year event.
 
"PON Papua is a medium that will give birth to new athletes with world-class achievements," said Roy as quoted from his official statement, Monday.

PON will be held on October 2-15, 2021 in four clusters, namely Jayapura City, Jayapura Regency, Mimika Regency and Merauke Regency.
 
Forty days before PON Papua, athletes continue to strengthen training. The main motivation that brought them to compete was to make the province proud, and to exceed performance limits to be better than before.
 
For novice athletes, PB PON said debuting in Papua 2021 is a golden experience that can be used as a lesson in the future. As for the seniors, this event is a medium for exchanging experiences with their juniors.
 
"As the next generation, we must continue to ignite the fire of enthusiasm that has been lit by previous champions," concluded Roy.
 
As many as 6,848 athletes will enliven the XX Papua PON 2021 and fight to represent their respective provinces. They are divided to compete in 37 sports, 56 sports disciplines and 679 match numbers.
