State Electricity Company (PLN) Inaugurates Bio Gas Processing in Muara Tami

As a form of concern for the environment, PLN through PLN Peduli inaugurated a Bio Gas and Bio Slurry Processing Plant in Muara Tami District, Jayapura City, Wednesday (18/8/2021).

The construction of a processing plant and production equipment worth Rp250 million is a PLN Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program in collaboration with the “Cinta Makmur” Community Self-Help Agency (BKM).

The inauguration was attended by the Manager of the PLN Customer Service Implementation Unit (UP3) Jayapura, Salmon Kareth and the Deputy Mayor of Jayapura, Rustan Saru and his staff. The construction of the Bio Gas and Bio Slurry processing plant was carried out for three months after the aid was distributed in April.

Manager of PLN UP3 Jayapura, Salmon Kareth said that in addition to serving customers in meeting their electricity needs, PLN wanted to take part in maximizing the potential for utilizing waste that has economic value for farmers.

"We hope that with the availability of adequate waste treatment facilities, the community can maintain and care for it properly. That way the environment can be better maintained and increase income potential for farmers," said Salmon.

The coordinator of BKM “Cinta Makmur”, Andi Lambang, expressed his gratitude to all parties who helped, especially PLN so that more bio gas and bio slurry could be produced.
"Thanks to PLN for the assistance provided. By maximizing the existing waste, this processing site is expected to help increase the income of cattle breeders in the Muara Tami District,” he said.

Deputy Mayor of Jayapura, Rustan Saru appreciated PLN's concern for helping the Jayapura community in many ways, from the conservation of the Skouw Yambe turtle to the provision of mobile toilets. Currently, other support from PLN is also present when it sees the potential to maximize waste.

“Starting from small-scale management, this must continue to be occupied and managed properly so that it can increase profits for farmers. Planning must be carefully thought out starting from production, packaging, and sales marketing so that it can have high selling power. I hope the increase in production and quality can continue to occur every month,” said Rustan.
