4 Indonesian Army Soldiers Killed by KKB Raid in Maybrat, West Papua




Four members of the Indonesian Army were killed when they were attacked by an unknown group of people known as the armed criminal group or KKB at the Kisor Posramil, South Aifat District, Maybrat Regency, West Papua, Thursday (2/9/2021) at 03.00 WIT.

The Commander of Kodam XVIII Cassowary Major General TNI I Nyoman Chantiasa said his party was still investigating the attack.

The four members of the Army who died were Serda Amrosius, Praka Dirham, Private Zul Ansari, and First Lieutenant Chb Dirman.

The perpetrators are estimated to number around 50 people. They attacked the post while the victim was sleeping.

Serda Amrosius, Praka Dirham, and Private Zul Ansari were found dead inside the Posramil while Lt. Chb Dirman, Commander of the Kisor Posramil, was found dead in the bushes not far from the post.

One member of the Indonesian Army, named Pratu Ikbal, was initially reported missing, but along with Sergeant Juliano was found to be seriously injured.

Pangdam XVIII Cassowary Major General I Nyoman Chantiasa told Antara, Thursday (2/9/2021) afternoon, stating that the victim died from his injuries.

He said an investigation was carried out to find out which group the perpetrators belonged to. "Later, I will give a press statement regarding the incident," said TNI Major General Chantiasa.

When asked about the situation in Kisor, the former Kasdam XVII Cenderawasih asked for time because the investigation was still ongoing.
