DIY sent 61 referees and judges to PON Papua

The Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) of the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) will send 61 referees, judges and match officials to serve in various sports for the Papua PON.

"We hope that all referees, judges and match officials do a good job because they also carry the good name of DIY," said the General Secretary of the DIY Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) Agung Nugroho in Yogyakarta, Monday.

According to him, referees, judges and match officials must have a mental toughness of steel when leading a match because sometimes there are incidents that lead to intimidation.

“For example, there were shouts at the referee or the jury while on duty. Things like that are common. So, there is no need to worry," said Agung.

Of the 61 referees, judges and match officials to be sent to the Papua PON, not all of them immediately received a decision letter (SK) to serve from KONI DIY.

The issuance of the decree from KONI DIY was carried out in stages because previously there were only about 40 referees, judges and match officials recorded at KONI DIY.

Agung said that as of September 3, 2021, only 46 referees, judges and match officials had received a decree.

"We will make it soon for the issuance of a delegation letter in the near future," said Deputy Chairperson of KONI DIY, Rumpis Agus Sudarko.

The referees, judges and match officials from DIY are assigned to several sports, including baseball, boxing, karate, sand volleyball, rugby, judo, taekwondo, basketball, sepak takraw, bodybuilding, kempo, swimming, futsal, rock climbing. , wushu and aeromodelling.

PON Papua will be held on October 2-15 by competing in 44 sports, which will be held in four locations, namely Jayapura City 15 sports, Jayapura Regency 14 sports, Mimika nine sports and Merauke six sports.
