Komnas HAM Condemns KKB's heinous act

A number of health workers (nakes) in the Bintang Mountains Regency, Papua, have been victims of persecution, harassment, and even murder. The heinous act was allegedly carried out by the armed criminal group (KKB) led by Lamek Tablo.

Komnas HAM expressed deep condolences to the victims. A nurse named Gabriela Meilan (22) died in the incident and a doctor Geral Sukoi (28) is reported to be still missing.

"We are deeply saddened by the incident in Kiwirok," said Komnas HAM External Deputy Chairman Amiruddin Al-Rahab, Saturday (18/9/2021).

The attack on health workers took place in the Kiwirok District, Bintang Mountains, on Monday (13/9). In addition, at least five health workers were injured.

Komnas HAM also condemned the action and asked law enforcement officials to take action against the perpetrators.

"The actions of the people called KKB are heinous crimes and violate the law in Indonesia. Therefore, the legal apparatus has 100 percent authority to take action against them,” he added.

He said that the perpetrators of these crimes must be dealt with by law enforcement officers in order to protect the human rights of every citizen. Komnas HAM said it would monitor the process.

"It is the security forces who guarantee security. Komnas monitors and carries out communication so that the law enforcement process can run well," he said.
