Opening of PON XX Papua Attended by Jokowi, TNI Commander Review Operation Cartenz

TNI Commander Marshal TNI Hadi Tjahjanto reviewed Operation Cartenz in Papua ahead of the opening ceremony of the XX National Sports Week (PON). Together with the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, Hadi ensured that security around the venue went according to plan.

Hadi said President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) would be present at the Lukas Enembe Stadium, Kampung Harapan, Jayapura Regency. As is known, the opening ceremony of PON XX will take place on Saturday (2/10).

"We have come to ensure that the implementation of PON XX must run safely and smoothly starting from the opening, the course of the match, until the closing," said Hadi Tjahjanto to reporters at the location, Tuesday (28/9/2021).

Hadi Tjahjanto explained that he and Sigit saw firsthand the series of rehearsals for the opening of PON XX and the preparation of security forces at the designated venue.

"Because the President was present at the opening and closing events, we ensure that all of our series are safe by carrying out the Cartenz Password Operation starting from ring 1 to ring 4, which has been running," he said.

Hadi reminded that all those present at the XX PON location must have been vaccinated against COVID-19 doses 1 and 2. For this reason, the TNI-Polri provide vaccination booths near the XX PON venue.

"We opened vaccine outlets in three areas where PON XX Papua is being implemented, the TNI/Polri cooperate with the Ministry of Health and other Task Forces so that people can get vaccines. Therefore, it is a requirement to be able to watch PON XX," he said.
